UNO: Rotary Encoder Scroll Wheel

UNO: Rotary Encoder Scroll Wheel
The UNO provides a logical, satisfying, and user-friendly way to turn digital knobs and sliders with an analog, clicky knob.  This knob scroll wheel is designed specifically for music production, but can be used in all sorts of scenarios.  To set it up, all you have to do is plug it in!  Turn the metal knurled knob and it will act just like a scroll wheel.  To reverse the direction, simply push down the knob.  The knob is incredibly easy to use with music production software as well: simply hover over any control that can be manipulated with your scroll wheel, turn the knob, and watch as the analog-feeling knob changes digital information on-screen!
User Testing
My goals with the product were for it to be more satisfying and better suited for music production than a traditional trackpad, as well as easy to set up.  All my users gave it a 5 out of 5 for ease of setup, said that it was more satisfying and logical to use than a trackpad, and said that they would prefer to use my product over a trackpad on a daily basis.  When adjusting an onscreen knob from 0 to exactly 50%, the using a trackpad took 4 seconds longer on average than using the UNO.  A couple criticisms I got were that the rotation of the knob didn't always translate exactly to movement of controls on screen, and the knob wasn't sensitive enough.  However, even my users who were music producers and were used to using a trackpad said they would rather use the UNO on a daily basis once they got used to it!
